Music of Migration is a musical lecture about global bird migration, developed by Sytze Pruiksma and the Dutch professor global flyway ecology Theunis Piersma. Together they tell the life story of the black-tailed godwit from chick to mature bird. They show the vulnerability of their living conditions and the consequences that the changes in the life of the godwit in Friesland has for people on the other side of the world.

When he was a little boy Sytze wanted to become a biologist, but he ended up being a classical percussionist and composer. In the last few years he managed to bring the music and his love for nature & birds together in his compositions and improvisations based on the Frisian landscape. In Music of Migration his musical interludes, supporting the story of Theunis Piersma, do not only grab the imagination of the listeners, but they also give them the time to process the information and to let it sink in. “You feel that people use those moments for contemplation”, Sytze says. “It works very well. Art can play an important role in raising people’s awareness.”
